The Role:

An exciting opportunity exists to be part of the Children’s Commissioning Directorate to design, procure, monitor, manage and improve services which are first and foremost about caring for, and understanding the needs of vulnerable adults and children.
The Travel Care and Support service is an established team responsible for the design and coordination of passenger transport for Children’s Services, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and Adult Social Care Services across Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster boroughs.

About You:

We are looking for highly enthusiastic, organised, efficient and engaging individuals to join the team to deliver a high quality, transparent Travel Care and Support Service enabling clients reach their destinations safely and be treated with dignity and respect.

You will play a key role in organising transport for residents including providing financial, business and administrative support. We are seeking someone who has proven experience of working in a dynamic care or transport-related environment and understands special educational needs and disability. You will maintain accurate data records and assist with producing performance monitoring information to improve the efficiency of the service.

Role Requirements:

You will process bookings and requests for transport, establish and maintain effective communciations with suppliers and operators, assist with periodic tendering activities, and occasionally provide out of hours’ support for bookings on a rota basis. You will therefore need to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, delivering key priorities to demanding timescales and work as part of a team to achieve shared outcomes. You should demonstrate a clear understanding of business needs of the service and developing commercial relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders.

You will carry out site visits and inspections where you will monitor the services and report back on your observations. This will include some lone working as well as working outdoors including in inclement weather.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs.
